question to skiers about how you guys and girls wax around the peggs on your bindings? tonight i just put the boot in the ski to get the "parking brake" out of the way. is their an easier way to remove the brakes while waxing? :confused

I picked up some "Velcro" straps from somewhere (the memory is always the first to go :P ). I wrap these around the brake arms and over the binding to retract the brakes during waxing & scraping. I've also seen the rubber bands catastrophically fail during waxing, but luckily there was never any damage to equipment or pilot, so I'd check the condition of the rubber bands frequently.

Rubber bands with little nicks in them are bad to use.

I mostly use some wire (like the kind in the walls). It is thick enough to hold the breaks, but bends and will stay easily too. plus I had a bunch of extra wire sitting around.

i usually just skip waxing that part. I figure it comes off in a run anyway, and I couldnt really care about going that fast where my bases have to be even. You should see my edges :o

Come off in one run? Rub on wax yeah... Hot wax no. Waxing is nice, especially for runs around here where its tough to get speed for some of the features. Keeps your speed more consistent too, you don't get slowed down as much by the mushy spots.

rub on for anything but races is a waste and is only effective if the base first hits snow at the starting gate.

there is a legitimate psychological effect though it isnt applicable if you always think youre large and in charge.
