Metz the Jersey boy Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 no, but if the meteor hits in front of me its just that much more protection I'll have. lol Heard you're getting new sticks, I think I should concede... Quote
Ski Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Shit, I didn't know you got hand-guardz...I don't even have hand-guards...should I just concede... I didn't know you were planning on skiing any slaloms, Doug. But, yeah, Metz, don't put guards on curved GS poles. If your regular straight poles are thin carbon fiber and the guards are too big, then just buy a cheap set of recreational poles. It's better to have cheap straight poles with guards than top of the line GS poles with guards. Quote
Metz the Jersey boy Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 thanks for the advice on the poles. I've got a pair of straight rec. poles I'll put the guards on. I was more worried about the strength of the poles. I guess thats not a big deal? Quote

All metal poles are going to bend, the slalom poles that Ski999 gave me bend from just pushing out of the gate doing NASTAR, and they're pretty thick. They easilly bend back straight Quote
Metz the Jersey boy Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 Well, I was worried about getting a stronger push out of the gate. thats where my comp poles fail... they just flex out. Quote

Metz the Jersey boy Posted February 5, 2006 Author Report Posted February 5, 2006 Yeah, I think I will... I told the starter i'm going to start doing it like the guy in 40 year old virgin though, and scream out weird stuff.... "C*cksuckermother*cker" "Kelly Clarkson" Quote
Ski Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Well, I was worried about getting a stronger push out of the gate. thats where my comp poles fail... they just flex out. I'd use cheap metal poles instead. I was given really sweet Leki carbon fiber poles at some point and they are useless for race starts. Jeff's slalom poles aren't fancy, but they are stiff as hell. Maybe I generate alot of power out of the start, but they bend pretty easilly, at least at the ends...I even got some bends now in the middle, that may have been from blocking a GS gate, haha Quote
