Shit, I didn't know you got hand-guardz...I don't even have hand-guards...should I just concede... :banghead

I didn't know you were planning on skiing any slaloms, Doug.

But, yeah, Metz, don't put guards on curved GS poles. If your regular straight poles are thin carbon fiber and the guards are too big, then just buy a cheap set of recreational poles. It's better to have cheap straight poles with guards than top of the line GS poles with guards.

thanks for the advice on the poles. I've got a pair of straight rec. poles I'll put the guards on. I was more worried about the strength of the poles. I guess thats not a big deal?

All metal poles are going to bend, the slalom poles that Ski999 gave me bend from just pushing out of the gate doing NASTAR, and they're pretty thick. They easilly bend back straight :)

Well, I was worried about getting a stronger push out of the gate. thats where my comp poles fail... they just flex out.

I'd use cheap metal poles instead. I was given really sweet Leki carbon fiber poles at some point and they are useless for race starts. Jeff's slalom poles aren't fancy, but they are stiff as hell.

Maybe I generate alot of power out of the start, but they bend pretty easilly, at least at the ends...I even got some bends now in the middle, that may have been from blocking a GS gate, haha :P
