Gurp Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 The two day event, SL and GS, is for SR, J1, J2 and second year J3. I couldnt tell u what all that ment if i tryed. Quote
skidude Posted February 6, 2006 Author Report Posted February 6, 2006 I couldnt tell u what all that ment if i tryed. Thats just the age groups...Basiclly saying anyone over 13 years old can race in it...Anyone under 13 years old can get tips from the US ski teamers, but can't race. Quote
Ski Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Am I the only person who thinks this is great? I saw the notice on PARA, but not the details. That's amazing. Ligety is the next Bode, just without the booze and creepy attitude. He was 2nd in the WC slalom standings until last weekend. Chip is a longtime US Ski Teamer that just hasn't stepped it up. Mancuso is one of the best US women...my second fav behind Kildow. Quote

Bode was told something along the lines of "if you want to come, come if you don't, we don't want to put up with your sh*t"....About the best way to deal with him Quote
Papasteeze Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Am I the only person who thinks this is great? It's a tough call Adam,, I am all for getting signatures and having fun, but if there is no snow and there is snow at Loon, we may head up there for the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge thing. (they both are "fun" races) It is on our calendar for sure!! Ridge has a jacket signed by several UST members and it would really cool to get some more. But... that is about it if there is no snow to race on. Quote
Ski Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 It's two months from now. The US Ski Team is coming to Elk. Unless they are chasing points somewhere north, how can anyone involved in racing not go? That's crazy. Quote
adrian Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 that means elk will be letting it all hang out to stay open late. thats what i like to hear. Quote
Papasteeze Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 how can anyone involved in racing not go? That's crazy. I think the majority of us (laricks) would rather ski than wait in line with hundreds of others with a marks alot. They are supposed to conduct clinics. If there is snow then we are there. Doug Lewis, D$, AJ, Koz, were all really friendly at PC last March - what made it even better, was that the Nastar people got Ridge up close and personal. It's too bad that these kind of events can't happen at the beginning of the season for inspiration. Does anyone know if they are doing the BODE golf thing again this year? Quote
skidude Posted February 6, 2006 Author Report Posted February 6, 2006 No one knows anything about bode now...Not even himself... Anyway, The best points for me to chaise in the country will be at Elk that weekend, which is real nice. Holimount and Holiday Valley were hosting the races last year at the same time, and its real interested to race when its 70 degrees outside... Should be a load of fun!!! Quote

Not everyone wants to be someone's groupie, begging for an autograph or whatever. Quote
skimom Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 Because they get opportunity to try and beat the fastest racers in the world. Quote
sibhusky Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 It does sound like a good opportunity to shave points because I am expecting that they won't ski their hardest. But we just had an interesting weekend here. The first day, the best (by a wide margin) skier finished back in the 20-somethingth place. So, the race penalty went up. That made us unhappy. But the next day she finished 1st and so I thought since Siblet finished higher that her points would be better. Wrong. Whereas when a top five girl's points are taken out of the penalty calculation it influences the penalty by no more than 20%, when she finishes where she is supposed to, it influences the RACE points by 100%. So, even though Siblet finished 3 places higher the second day and the penalty was lower the second day, she finished further back from the winner in terms of seconds than the day before. End result was that she got worse points on the second day. So, assuming the Ski Team guys ski the way they should be, it may or not be helpful to have them there. Quote
skierboi Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 ted ligety was skiing with mhssc when i was there, hes an amazing skier, and it will be awsome to race him Quote

sibhusky Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Jonna Mendes will be involved with the clinics. Hey, if anyone meets Jonna, tell her the lady in the store in Whitefish says "hi". Just in case she was recognized in other stores, I'm the one with the racing daughter. Quote
