Ski Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 So Missy, has he called? He was all cocky when he left, saying he wasn't nervous, but Park City just set a record for consecutive high temps... ~~~~ For the casual observer, Skidude is at Park City for the NASTAR Nationals. He'll take two runs Friday and two runs Saturday. Each run will have a handicap, or percentage he's slower than the pacesetter. They'll take the best handicap from each day and average it together. Last year, there were only about six guys in the division he's racing in, so an Eastern skier that's used to crappy conditions has a decent shot, although The Dude is a heavy underdog. A Top 3 will get him on the podium and big kisses and stuff from current and former US Ski Team racers. ~~~~ Quote
AtomicSkier Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 poor little dude, the conditions suck for him out there.... i'll be watchin for him though Quote
skigurl Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 i havn't heard anything from him yet, and don't expect to hear anything. I'm not even sure what they were doing, but i'm pretty sure they were not at PC all week, just ending up there for the races. Quote
Ski Posted March 24, 2004 Author Report Posted March 24, 2004 Yes, but some of my friends went to Nationals and planned to ski different areas before the race days, but decided the conditions sucked too bad to waste their time. They are just hanging out at the PC NASTAR course practicing instead...thought Dude might do the same. Quote
skigurl Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 the dude give up ski time at different places?? are you nuts, he would drive 6 hrs ski in the pouring rain, with almost no snow, for 4 hrs of skiing and then drive home 6 hrs. Quote
sibhusky Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 (edited) It looks to me as if he's practicing. Ski Posted March 27, 2004 Author Report Posted March 27, 2004 Holy, crap!!!! Poor Skifamily...skimom's race was cancelled today and the 'dude had to run through a wet snowstorm. http://www.nastar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=228 Quote
skigurl Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 (edited) ok i should prolly know how to do this, but b.c i'm seeing double of about everything, how did 'dude do? Edited June 9, 2006 by skidude Quote
Ski Posted March 27, 2004 Author Report Posted March 27, 2004 Park City's regular daily NASTAR results are posted, but not National Championships...I'm guessing they'll be posting them after Sunday's races, since age groups and divisions are all separated. Quote

Poor Skifamily...skimom's race was cancelled today and the 'dude had to run through a wet snowstorm. http://www.nastar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=228 that blows....hopefully skidude will have an edge, since hes prolly more used to crappy conditions such as those. skigurl Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 well it looks like the conditions didn't make a difference, if i did it right, Adam was 3rd outa 7 for male 15-16 expert. I think this means he races tomorrow but i'm not sure. I'm trying to figure out if skimom raced, because her results arn't up yet, but who knows. Quote
Ski Posted March 27, 2004 Author Report Posted March 27, 2004 WOOOHOOO! Looks like our little guy made the podium! Quote
skigurl Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 he isn't all the little, he's like 6 ft tall Quote
Ski Posted March 27, 2004 Author Report Posted March 27, 2004 Yeah, but calling him "big guy" is just way too gay. Quote
nick malozzi Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 i think ski was refering to something else with the "lil" comment. you do remember the "i got 3 inches!" thread dont you? Quote
Ski Posted March 28, 2004 Author Report Posted March 28, 2004 Jeez, Jib, I dunno...referring to him like that might be even more gaaaay. ANYWAY, I hope after he got off the podium he snuck out and got hammered. The Dude weaving down the PC sidewalk with a bottle in one hand and his bronze medal in the other, offering strange girls his autograph! Yeah, Baby! Hey, the Dude is fair game from now on. He stuck two runs when guys were blowing out all around him. Cool stuff, for sure. On the other hand, check out this crazy f*ing thread: http://www.nastar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=214&start=15 I actually felt like killing myself by the last paragraph. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 nah skidude gets "high on life" i guess i'll have to wait until im 21 to see what it feels like to be wasted congrats little dude! good job Quote
skigurl Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 if the dude gets hammered i want pics of it Quote
skimom Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 (edited) Skidude skied like a Champion - Wish you could have seen him. The conditions were cra@@y. His group got in a run on day 1 -> fifth. On his first run, day 2, he excelled on CB (the run used in the Olympic GS race). DNF'ed, falling down the entire headwall, and busted a ski during his second run. He got the Olympic team to sign it - everyone was really impressed! He will post pics - the bent ski is at least as cool as the medal. I bombed, but that's life. We got a powder dump, and got to pow it up thru the trees on Sunday, which was great. Edited March 29, 2004 by skimom Quote
ole2planker Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Skimom, Thanks for the update. Sounds like it was an exciting time for skidude -- wish there was video for all of us to enjoy. Sorry you didn't do well, but I bet you're glad you got to enjoy that powder! Quote
Ski Posted March 29, 2004 Author Report Posted March 29, 2004 They broadcast a 30 minute highlight special on, I believe, NBC back when Nationals were held at Beaver Creek. And that was when there were 1/2 as many people racing. Here are links to MB threads with pics. Some wild weather. http://www.nastar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=228 http://www.nastar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=229 Quote
skimom Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Don't worry, Skigurl, he busted his long GS ski...you will still be able to borrow his SL skis. I think Volkl should replace it - they were new this season. Quote
skigurl Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 ohh wow, i was expecting him to have busted the SL ski that he claims i messed up. Quote
