Conditions 02/06/06

The east side of mountain was closed for snowmaking on all those trails. The west side Asp and Hump were closed.

From the condo it looks like they turned on a lot more guns tonight.

Conditions were better than expected since all the bad weather last week and over the weekend. Loose granular with hard stuff under it. Everything should keep getting better as long as it stays cold and they can keep those snow guns going 24 hrs a day.

I was up today from 3-10pm... pretty much the first few hours were granular... after that, pure ice. I had to leave. I can't handle the ice.

I left after a few runs tonight too. I didn't like the way the granular held an edge, and the blacks were ice. They only had 2 blacks open and half the Mt was closed. It was rideable, but you would have to ski conservatively, which I wasn't in the mood for. I had a bad feeling about the day when on my first run I'm carving, then all of a sudden, my board is no longer underneath me and I'm sliding on my side. But they should be able to make snow this week and make it all better.

yea, I stay as long as I can when I go... I don't have many days off. now I have a week, trying to take advantage of them. I think I'll sit today out and check it tomorrow and Thursday before going back to work.

I took a nasty fall on the Pocono Run, and Raceway was pretty much COMPLETELY covered in ice--and some sand, it looked like.

Ahh, the white sand beaches of the pocono's

It should be getting better by tomorrow, I'll have a second hand report later in the evening, but hopefuly someone will have a good report on tonight's conditions.

Conditions were almost the same as yesterday so I won't start a new conditions report for 02/07/2006

According to the CB website the east side of mountain will be closed again tomorrow. (Wed) They must be blowing the stuff pretty deep over there. Should be really nice later in the week when it finally opens.

The pipe was a hardpack but held an edge decently. It's the best it's been in over a month I'd say. It was especially cool because I finally was able to air out on my heelside edge. Thats been a year in the making, all of a sudden it clicked :). Sorry for gloating, it was a big day for me.

Congrats Glenn! I was up there yesterday (tuesday) as well. i didn't get there til about 6, though. I'd really like to meet a few more of you CB guys. Maybe glenn, or someone else can even teach me how to snowboard better... I will definitely be looking for you guys more often though. I guess I'll have to take a few more park runs... Tonight I spent the night just about everywhere on the mountain, except for the park, as I was on slalom skis, and they don't fit too many park applications... sooo, if you guys see a red jacket with 2 pasr stickers on the back of the helmet, throw a snowball at me or something...

Didn't realize you came to CB on weeknights. I'll look for you there.

I'm there just about every Sat. and Sun. morning. I hang out on the side accessed by the Stevenson quad.

Speaking of which, when are you going to make it up for a friday night?

I'm off the 17th for Presidents Day, I'm hitting Blue in the Afternoon to meet up with Jeff and Doug, if I get done early enough I could swing by CB on the way home for some night runs.

Are you there on weekend mornings?
