it cost a little around $3000 for the roll of carpet and shipping. and it is pretty sweet. it slides pretty nice once it is wet down and is great for all the summer rail sessions that we had. he doesnt have sand-filled though... at least i dont think so

Ic thats awesome...but im still confused about this because if it only costs $10 per square yard, $3000 worth of it would be 300 yards...im pretty sure you wouldnt need that much...unless shipping is rediculously expensive or sumthing?

I'm guessing you've ridden it. (edit:DUH) Do you just wet it and go, or do you need ice rink snow?

i'm not sure of the name... i know he ordered it through D&D Flooring. It was a couple thousand dollars for a roll and expensive to ship.... if you dont have the money for it, jsut do what i do. i got old carpet that was thrown out from some carpet store and just layed it down and then cover it with a thin layer of snow from the ice rink. it works great.if you dont have snow, spray it with wd40 or soap it up, but it works much better with snow

the carpet is called sandfill. i guess its designed for people with shore houses, they lay it down in their lawn and put a thin layer of sand on it, and the sand fills in between the fibers and makes the fibers stand up so it looks more like real grass than astroturf does. its the longer fibers that make it slide more like snow than regular turf does. if you cant afford the sandfill stuff, regular turf will work, but you have to make sure its nice and wet, or there's plenty of wax on your skis.
