we skied smugglers notch on saturday. the temp on the way was down to -6. coverage there was thin, icy in alot of spots. this was my first time there and i was not impressed with it! the lodges were small it sort of reminded me of skiing back here. cool thing there was the midway points on the lifts where you can get off the lift mid way up the mountain. i have never seen that. but also makes for mistakes too. my brother and my son had to jump off the lift to join me cause it looked like a midway point but was really at the top of the mountain. my son loved that. he also liked the tree skiing. and they only have double chair lifts, that go really slow!

over all i was not impressed with this place at all and wouldnt go back there again. :no

i would really recommend going to a place like Okemo or Killington or stowe they have really nice snow up there. and also you have to understand that this winter was bad for everyone so give it a shot next season if we actually get to see winter.

Brokeskier is right - its been a bad winter for snow coverage up in Vermont. Sorry to hear you had a bad time at Smuggs. We love it and try to go twice a season. Smuggs has poor snowmaking abilities so they really suffer if there isn't much natural snow.

I agree the lodges are terrible - but remember that the majority of guests have slopeside condos so many won't even visit the lodges.

We go for the ski instruction - keeping the same instructor day after day really improves your ability.

Call us crazy - we like the lack of high speed lifts. Keeps the traffic off the slopes. And we like the atmosphere of the place - very relaxed and people are friendly.

To each his/her own. I, for one, love smuggs. Stowe is worth the trip as well. I'm leaving for Sugarbush on Wed. and I really hope that they've fared well with snow. Hope your next trip up presents you with some great snow, though.

over all i was not impressed with smugglers. maybe cause my first ski trip was to killington and i just fell in love with there that the smugglers didnt impress me. i loved killington alot better.

we did drive over to stowe to check out the night skiing there. from what i could it was just one trail and it was sooo cold there that we didnt do it. we drove there at night and again that didnt impress me as much as killington. we would like to try sugarbush. hopefully that will be the next place we hit on our trips to Vt
