skimom Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 You could still ski down the Asp - it's coveage is practically edge-to-edge. We drove to NY for less snow Quote
skimom Posted April 5, 2004 Author Report Posted April 5, 2004 Hunter was marginally worth it. Most of the main front trails were open, but hard to access. Hellgate and their intermediate cruiser were the only trails you could do without risking major injury to skis. We only skied half a day because the rain turned everything to slop after a bit -> used rock skis the entire time. Their closing date is next Sunday. I may not bother unless they get a chance to make snow during the week. I hope Belleayre was better. Quote
Ski Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Belleayre was good with SL or bump skis. The headwalls down the front side had lots of snow where they usually have good mogul runs, but the connecting trails were gravel pits. I could see them open through April. Quote
chrisjur Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 There was lots of snow up in VT this past weekend, but it was a bit musy....still had 62 trails open at stratton with almost total coverage, but it was thin in spots (of course). If they get hit with the white stuff this week, I think Killington or Stratton would be good choices. Quote
Freeheeler Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 I skied Sugarbush on Saturday...they actually got like 2-3" of snow up on top. But it was foggy up there. that sucked. Some of the bump runs were pretty good, just had to take care getting into some of them....mud, rocks, and crap. Â We were going to ski "K-mart" on Sunday but it was raining and foggy again so we scouted some creeks instead. Quote
skidude Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Back to CB...Almost all the dimonds you can ski if you can make very quick 2 foot turns...Asp you probably have about 5-10 feet atleast to make your turns. Add that to the huge piles of snow you could have some fun Quote
skigurl Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I was surprised you(skidude) didn't walk up the mountain and ski anyway Quote
skibum2112 Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 i would have been worried about that too Quote
joeskier Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 I was worried Dave would eat me LOL who wouldn't worry? Â BTW anyone been by the moutain in the past couple days? is there really still enough snow to take a run? Quote
skigurl Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 i don't think there is, i'll check when i'm at school b.c then i have a better view but i thinkmost of it's gone b.c of all the rain we have had Quote
romemadman Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 itis still raining here i have had school base ball practice for the past eek in our gym and ithink the florecent light r screwing up my visiom Quote
nick malozzi Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 ur vision is prolly fine, however it seems to be affecting your typing/spelling skills. Quote
skigurl Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 update: there are still patches of snow on the mountain....lets go, whos with me? Quote
skidude Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Hmmm I am all for going...But not for getting eaten by dave...So if you slash his tires or something the day we go its all good Quote
Ski Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 update: there are still patches of snow on the mountain....lets go, whos with me? Yeah, the East side has only thin ribbons of snow, but the West side still looks pretty skiable. Where the trails are narrow and stay in the shade, the snow is pretty deep. Imagine all the props CB would have gotten for keeping a lift going and a trail stockpiled with snow...and our ski hill welcomes anyone who wants to hike for turns; the Daves threaten PROSECUTION if you wanna hike. Quote
skimom Posted April 16, 2004 Author Report Posted April 16, 2004 What's "our hill"? I'd hike for a run or two... Quote
Ski Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 The ski area in our community. We've had to hike it for a month now. I'm REALLY looking forward to using lifts on Saturday in NY. Quote
