Sno Mountain Skier Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 2 things, i never knew they were that close, and shawnee isnt very tall compared to the surronding mountains. Quote
LineSki Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 I always wondered what mountain it was. Quote
skifreak Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Wow Shawnee isn't all that big. Quote
Glenn Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 I cant believe I've never seen Shawnee from CB. Top of the stevenson is the best spot to see it, IMHO. Quote
bigdaddyk Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 (edited) I never noticed it . It's amazing the scenery that you never take the time to look at because you are too busy There's no chance of that being Big Boulder???? Edited February 26, 2006 by bigdaddyk Quote
mtnbiker99x Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 If you look way out you can see Hunter, NY too. Maybe someone with a big lens can get that photo. LOL Quote
Stevo Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 I cant believe I've never seen Shawnee from CB. me neither I never noticed it . mtnbiker99x Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 This is a crappy photo but you can see the west side of Hunter, NY way out in the distance from Camelback too. Quote

That's not Hunter. 2.) It's totally fake. 3.) You Photoshopped that fake piece of crap on to my image. Nice try. Here are a couple more: Edited February 26, 2006 by emtp563 Quote
mtnbiker99x Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Yeah that one is fake (LOL--best I can do in -3 min), but you really can see the Catskills from the top of mountain on a clear day. Take a look the next time your up there on a clear day. Quote

Take a look the next time your up there on a clear day. Yeah, I know- very far, very dim. It's seldom clear enough, though. You can actually see three states from the top. From the other side of Big Pocono, you can see Blue Mt. Ski area. If the Blue wasn't in the way, you would be able to see Bear Creek. Quote
romemadman Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 also there is no way u can see hunter 1. hunter faces northeast 2. hunter west faces west and cb isn't west of hunter nor is it north 3. it is like hour 45 from cb or longer i never noticed that u can see shawnee either Quote
Stripes Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 At night I can see Bear Creek from Blue and the Northeast extension. From where? Quote
adrian Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 you can see montage from 81. its true. Quote
skifreak Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 You can see Bear Creek from blue in two places. First is on the mountain when you are going down Tuts Lane. The next is when you drive down Blue Mountain Drive towards Allentown. Quote
meggles Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 (edited) my favorite view from any ski area down here is at jack frost, on the double you take on east mtn and you turn around... you see the lehigh (however its spelled) river or something...it looks so awesome...especially if its snowing Edited February 28, 2006 by megan. Papasteeze Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 I cant believe I've never seen Shawnee from CB. It's obvious at night! Going south on the Northeast Extension from say like Jack Frost you can see a ski resort in the distance. Is that CB? Yes! You can see Bear and blue from 476 south at night.. Blue can also be seen from 22 south of allentown Quote

skifreak Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 You can see blue from a lot of places in the Lehigh Valley. I can even see it from my backyard. Quote
pyro_boarder Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 I believe the mountain in that picture is actualy Alpine. I not positive, but that seems like it is more in the right place than shawnee. Quote
Schif Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 (edited) My crazy need to look at skiing websites made me look up alpine. Doesn't look half bad actually. 21 trails 10 top to bottom. Terrain park and halfpipe. Not sure on the vert but it doesn't look tiny. Looks like its doing pretty well. Pretty cool feature, they have 2 quads up to the summit.
