ColoradoHigh Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Well, I got to Bear at 12:00 and got a 4 hour lift ticket until 4:08. The snow was sooooooo soft, sooooo carveable, the best conditions in awhile. VERY NICE . I would've ate that snow right off the slope. I could feel the edges of my skis really dig into the snow. . Overall, a crapload of fun, and the Quad lift line was almost non-existent. Quote

I am serious. The snow was easy to carve in. Nice weather. You rode at night, when the temps. droped down below freezeing, making icy and dicy conditions. I on the other hand skied during the day, when the temp. almost hit 45*. The snow depth at the lodge is not 8" more like 15" and they keep making snow. Plus, who needs snow at the lodge, all the snow we need is on the slopes, and its seems pretty believeable for Bear to stay open till mid April . Don't worry Icon, Bear will stay open. Don't board at night, its the WORST, I went night skiing at Blue last week, and it SUCKED, sooooooo icy. Quote
Papasteeze Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Good - nice to know that after steamboat, there will be something open this side of the Catskills Quote
beachiegirl2ski Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 And closing date for bear is april 15th how did you find out about the closing date? i didnt see anything listed on the website as of yet Quote
Bear Creek PR Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Bear Creek hasn't yet set an official closing date. However, I can tell you that the last day for snowtubing will be March 12. After that, the snowtube area will be turned back into a big hit terrain park, like it was at the beginning of the season. Also (and this isn't official yet), but we are hoping to remain open into April with just Black Bear Park, Cascade Park and Kodiak. If this happens, the rental shop and ski school will close, and we'll probably stay open just evening and weekends. Quote
ColoradoHigh Posted March 5, 2006 Author Report Posted March 5, 2006 Thats AWSOME!!!!! :rock , thats one of many reasons I LOVE Bear Creek! Quote
