Papasteeze Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I don't agree, Pops. I think they are trying to improve, they just aren't doing everything at once. There were a million rumors about staying open late, and if the conditions were reasonable, I bet they would. We didn't hear those rumors previously. IDK about early opening, but I bet we'll start to see late closings. And, if the cold weather trend stays, we may see an effort this year. The old CB would be closed at the end of the passholders party. They are also improving race training - it seems like they had more gate training than previous years, and on a variety of trails. Ha, maybe you were away on all those days... I hear ya, big wheels turn slow. But when I take a look at what BC has accomplished in 2 years it will take CB 10 years and even then, they would still be behind. BC seems to make wrongs right, CB on the other hand easily tells their customers to go some where else if they don't like something. BC listens, CB slams doors. Tell me why cliffy or some other top to bottom trail can't be used for training? They are always clogged with people that shouldn't be on them. The ski team has a lot of open slots and more are apparently opening up. However I don't know the numbers. Does anyone go to CB for the park? not that I am aware of. Why do people go to CB over other places? Conveinence of the location. NorthRidge, shopping, restaurants, etc etc. Yeah there are improvements, but they are miniscule and cursory at best in comparision with the leaps and bounds that Blue and BC have made. Quote
skimom Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 CB is stodgy, but they are improving. ...edited by skimom... As far as being open to input, BC is in a class by itself. Quote
Shadows Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 As far as being open to input, BC is in a class by itself. forget being open to input, they arent open at all Quote
Stevo Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Wow, you guys are tough. I see CB trying to change into a fun place. They improved their terrian parks, made Glen Lodge more enjoyable, are talking of a dedicated NASTAR run, added pond skimming, bought a mogul maker... They were melting fast last weekend and certainly can't make snow in this heat. HAHAHA what do you mean by that. They got a new box, a wallride, then some other shitty box, and then a "picnic table"-type thing Their park isn't really any better in my opinion. Before you camel locals get your guns out- i'm not hating on camel's park-in fact- i like it. I'm just saying.. Quote
4 more wars Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Laurel was better last year and Rhodo was decent but has been better like 2 years ago when it was alot of jumps. Rhodo spent as much time closed as it did open. I like the ride on features of Laurel, because I am learning... not everything needs to be ride-on however... for instance, if the box is ride-on, yet drops off about 5 feet at the end... do you really think that noobs should be able to ride-on? I don't. Quote
4 more wars Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Really? It definetely opened earlier this year tho. O, did u mean 2 years ago? My bad. It opened earlier, but I mean... rhodo kinda sucks, too. Laurel is spread out and long enough that it could be SOOOOOOOO much better. P.S. Cameltoe is open on Friday--all--YEA *ALL* picture passes are valid from now until CB closes--even weekends--even employee and college and elderly passes... even the sun-fri passes, for whatever 2 days or so are left... CB is also blowing snow when the temps drop... hopefully they can blanket the 18 trails they will have open with a foot or so of snow, I mean, it IS going to be 20 degrees, and snowing anyway. Quote

jdew Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 if we wanna argue semantics, we could say they walk around and hook up hoses. Not arguing semantics; just stating a fact that the snowmakers take alot of pride in their craft. Lighten up. Quote

Shadows Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 and they do a damn fine job of it. not good enough apparently since this weekend may be the last few days for them. Blue is blowing and its probably gonna result in them staying opened longer. BC has decided not to blow because they have enormous bare spots, but thats because they dont have the capacity as blue or CB. blue and CB both put down good strong bases, and blue is the only one taking advantage of that.
