Papasteeze Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 For those of us whose season has already ended, just some thoughts to prepare for next year: Soak your gloves in water and store them in the freezer after every use. Fasten a small wide rubber band around the top half of your head before you go to bed each night. If you wear glasses, begin wearing them with glue smeared on the lenses. Throw away a hundred dollar bill - NOW. Find the nearest ice rink and walk across the ice 20 times in your boots carrying your board/skis and other gear. Pretend you're looking for your car. Sporadically drop things. Place a small but angular pebble in your shoes, line them with crushed ice, and then tighten a C-clamp around your toes. Buy a new pair of gloves and immediately throw one away. Secure one of your ankles to a bed post and ask a friend to run into you at high speed. Go to McDonald's and insist on paying $8.50 for a hamburger. Be sure you are in the longest line. Clip a lift ticket to the zipper of your jacket and ride a motorcycle fast enough to make the ticket lacerate your face. Drive slowly for 5 hours - anywhere - as long as it's in a snowstorm and you're following an 18-wheeler. Fill a blender with ice, hit the pulse button and let the spray blast your face. Leave the ice on your face until it melts. Let it drip onto your clothes. Dress up in as many clothes as you can and then proceed to take them off because you have to go to the bathroom. Slam your thumb in a car door. Don't go see a doctor. Repeat all of the above every Saturday and Sunday (more if necessary) until it's time for the real thing. Quote
Dan- Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 I just read this in another post in the lodge. Quote
DHarrisburg Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 can you please post a remedy for strep throat that doesn't involve going to the doctor Quote
Dan- Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 I don't think there is one. Im one to not go to the doctor and i think i held out a week before i went since i figured it'd go away but it doesn't work, it just gets worse. Quote
toast21602 Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 (edited) can you please post a remedy for strep throat that doesn't involve going to the doctor i would suggest going to the doctor. strept throat is an infection caused by the bacteria Streptococci and can be contagious if antibiotics are not taken, but once you take them, it wont be contagious within 24-36 hours i think. if you don't go to the doctor it could progress into something called scarlet fever, where you will develop a red rash on your skin that feels course. also, if you dont get treatment you could develop kidney disease and rhumatoid fever, which both lead to death. people used to die of these infections until the discovery of penicillin in the 40s, so i'd suggest that you get some treatment. oh, and make sure you wash your hands and disinfect pretty much everything that you touch to prevent it from coming back and to prevent spreading it. DHarrisburg Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 Bleh. I'm allergic to penicillin. I should have gone to the doctor today. Now I've got to wait until Monday. Wonderful. Quote
toast21602 Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 (edited) Amoxicillin is usually used to treat it, but i'm pretty sure that is just a glorified form of Penicillin. So an alternative would be erythromycin... but i'm sure your doctor will tell you what you need. get better. Edited April 7, 2006 by toast21602 Quote

Tyler Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 toast, how do you know all of that about medicine. Its pretty impressive. Are you a medical student? Quote
snorovr Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 One might say he is a student of medicine... I'll let him explain. Quote
DHarrisburg Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 So an alternative would be erythromycin... but i'm sure your doctor will tell you what you need. get better. Ding ding ding. My doctor prescribed a five-day cycle of azithromycin, two pills the first day and one for each of the four following. $40 for six pills Quote
toast21602 Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 $40 isnt too bad, at least you will get rid of it and not have to deal with any of the other complications, haha. i think 40 bones is better than some of the other crap that could happen if you didnt get treatment Quote
liftie Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 gee papa, i could have sworn i posted this like 2 days ago in another forum where you asked for it... hmm.... Quote
