Schif Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 As long as you can slide down, i'd say go for it. Quote
bigdaddyk Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 Dumb question, but where is Solitude ?? Quote
Timeless Posted April 9, 2006 Author Report Posted April 9, 2006 Dumb question, but where is Solitude ?? Sorry, it's Utah, in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Nearly all the resorts here have had record or near record snowfall this year but they're all still closing next weekend. Only snowbird is staying open. Quote
ColoradoHigh Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 The only possible reason they are closing early with a base like that, is due to the enviornment. Thats why Steamboat ski area in Coloroado is closing today with the 4th largest snow fall total. Many birds, bears, and other animals are miagrating back and the resorts don't want people ruining it for them. So its for the good. Your free to hike up and ski/ride down. Quote
toast21602 Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 you should see the base at Mt. Mikovits..... Quote
ColoradoHigh Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 you should see the base at Mt. Mikovits..... Soo? How is it? . I bet its just dirt and rocks and grass. Quote
toast21602 Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 a little bit of dirt, a nice long roll of carpet, but no rocks, i cleared most of the away... but there will be a nice base over easter break when we go get snow from the ice rink for a little rail jam. Quote

Haha, nice. I like the roll of carpet thing going. Does carpet simulate groomed snow? Quote
toast21602 Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 no, it just makes it easier for the snow to stick to the ramps and it prevents melting a little bit. also, when it does melt, you arent skiing through a muddy mess. Quote
