Wow I read the entire report and that guys so lucky...he didn't even care that he lost one of his skis. Exposure like that makes me nervous. I've never skied anything that ballsy but some of the terrain off the Tram at Big Sky left a lump in my throat because of traverses above cliffs with lots of no-fall areas. I wouldn't ski those lines in the Whistler back-country...I want to live long enough to one day buy lift tickets with Social Security money...wow that makes Goat at Stowe look like a bunny slope..

you only live once doug. Go big or go the hell home. I wanna ride AK, and the stuff out there is probably alot harder then that chute the guy fell on.

before i box i def. wanna ski a pitch of 65-70 degrees that would be uber-gnar

:rock

Same here. Would be so sick. Not many people can say they've ridden something that steep.

I was looking at the forecast for Valdez. Rain and snow all week. So that means snow in the mountains :banghead:banghead:banghead

I want to ski Alaska before nuclear Islamacaust... :o Alyeska gets dumped on and it's very low in elevation, I think the base is 400 feet above sea level. There's apparently a cool highway between Anchorage and Denali...I always wanted to see the mountain named after the GMC Yukon.. :banghead

The AK highway is what its called. Arguablily the biggest engerning project of WW2.

Indeed it could have been.

According to Warren Miller, ALyeska is at sea level.

Its cool to go balls out but dont do nothin stupid. You still got a long life to live.

theres a difference between going balls out and ejoying some calculated risk...like personally i wouldnt try to hit a 50 foot cliff that comes off a 50 degree pitch tommorrow, although it would be a sick line i wouldnt wanna fu*k that up. but someday i hope to be good enough that the risk to pleasure ratio is in favor of pleasure on slayin sick stteep lines, 60+ degree that is and 50-80 foot cliffs. :rock

Exactly. Always scout before you do something. If conditions arn't right. Don't do it. It'll still be there for another day when the conditions are better.
