kabozo101 Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 if your looking for a box topsheet that'll go over the wood there a couple choices. lexan-pretty expensive hdpeless expensive puckboard-hockey rink glass-not sure about the price Quote
snorovr Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 formica, not that durable especailly if u dont have coping, but it works well. Get scraps from Home Depot. Only use this stuff if your box isnt getting alot of use. So far we've had good luck using Formica in Skier150's park from both durability and slidability standpoints. During a Jam that thing probably sees well over 100 slides, and it seems to be holding up fine. The one problem I noted the other day was that the material seems to be coming unglued a little bit from the box, but Skier150 said that when they glued it down, the air temperature wasn't really anywhere near where the directions called for, so that may have had something to do with it. Sno Mountain Skier Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 im gonna try to make the box h- 1.5 ft w- 1 ft l - 10 ft are those good measurements? Make it longer then 10 ft, you will get bored very easily. Quote
toast21602 Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 from what you just said, your box is only 1 foot long and 10 feet high... but i know what you meant. i would go longer than 10. i have a 12 foot box and i still think its short. Quote
Sno Mountain Skier Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 from what you just said, your box is only 1 foot long and 10 feet high.. No he didnt. H 1.5 W 1 L 10, is what he wrote down. Quote
toast21602 Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 missed the H.... usually dimensions are marked after the measurement. Quote
BC Iron Works Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 UHMWP is what it is, its very expensive but very good, try Lehigh Valley Plastics Quote
Guest jeenyus2690 Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 I use abs plastic and it works great. It is supposed to be used for a cutting board but u slide great and u never catch ur edge unless u suck and like to grind with ur edges. heres the link. I suggest using .25 because it is flexable enough to bend in any shape but sturdy enough for w/e. http://www.indplastic.com/index.cfm?fuseac...130&product=174 Quote

Justin Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 so i have my box all built and it looks really really nice but i still havent put anything on top of it .... does anyone know if plexiglass would work? I would NOT recommend using plexiglass. its much softer than lexan and could catch your edges. uhmw is definatly the best bet, but lexan is good also. Quote
