meggles Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 yeaaah bretton woods is sick! as is wildcat, and every other ski area on the mt washington valley.. haha they've all got great skiing and epic views if you turn around on the chairlift.. its crazy Quote
skidude Posted September 19, 2006 Author Report Posted September 19, 2006 I think Stratton lost with the...74 dollar lift ticket...Or whatever they had.. I do agree, most of the things they are rated on are stupid...Baby sitting service, food, close handicap parking...stuff just doesn't matter to me. Quote
jordan Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) where is jackson hole and whistler Edited September 20, 2006 by jordan Quote
sibhusky Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I am thrilled we didn't make it. It's bad enough the "travel writers guild" or whatever came here last year. I expect lots of articles. Quote
Sno Mountain Skier Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 No reason for holliday valley should be on there, and okemo shouldnt be 10. Whiteface in the 5,6 area. Quote
Dan- Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) That list is terrible. It just looks like the top ten resorts for people who don't ski/ride alot...Most of these lists anyway, are just ones with which mountains can pay the most money to be on there... jordan Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 i agree with Vail being number one, that place is incredible have you ever skied jackson hole? Jordan Quote
Dan- Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 means less lift lines and more pow for me Trip is all booked now. Quote
DHarrisburg Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 This list is aimed at gapers. 'Nuff said. Quote
First Grade Teacher Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) Vail is a great place but come on, Whistler/blackomb at #4. That place is the best resort in North America! Hands down! Edited September 20, 2006 by First Grade Teacher Quote
DHarrisburg Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I read that terrain-park quote again and I am still laughing. Quote
method9455 Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Thats rediculous. The top ten in Transworld Snowboarding last year wasn't much better. Quote
Papasteeze Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I remember getting emails encouraging me to vote for this place or that. I am sure the results are loaded by voting campaigns. Quote
swdorsey Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 whoever pays the mag the most gets the 1 spot. its that simple.... i think Quote
Glenn Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 whoever pays the mag the most gets the 1 spot. its that simple.... i think Eh, not quite that simple. I would think the magazines have a little more integrity than just making list positions for purchase. However, depending on how the list is compiled money may matter. If for instance the editors choose, and certain mountains wine and dine the editors nicely during their visits, well you can guess which mountains really were the most fun (for those editors). If it's a public pole than any number of factors can come into play. All in all though, those lists are generally pretty useless. Quote

You can create a poll that would give results making Osama bin Laden more popular in America than Tiger Woods. And mags even dig the negative buzz, because buzz is buzz. I really don't think the editors need or want 'fixed' results...there's way too much employee turnover to risk the embarassment. Quote
DHarrisburg Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 i'm not sure if i should be dieing of laughter or crying at how fucking stupid some people are This is Ski magazine we're talking about. They probably had four votes for best terrain park, and they all came from one household. Quote
Glenn Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 The pictures on their website look pretty legit. I think I'ver heard some things about this place on NS. I'm not saying it truely is the best, but perhaps the total mockery of the statement could be out of line. The ridind doesn't look too hot but the features look decent Halfpipe Flat down rail This is definately the weakest example, but I wanted to include a picture of a jib. Kicker Then again... maybe it really is as silly as everyone thinks. I'm certainly not the park expert, and I've yet to see (first hand) any resorrts with great parks. Quote
method9455 Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Dude, FUCK THAT. Maybe its best in the midwest or something, props to them for that. But seriously FUCK THAT. There is absoluetly no justification for that. I don't even know where to begin on this. I'm not even sure how to respond to that post. So I won't, I'll just post some pictures. But realize we're talking about the best park IN THE COUNTRY. Quote
Glenn Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 ... so upon further review Nub Nob's locals proobly got organized and sent in tons of votes. Quote
