skidude Posted September 23, 2006 Author Report Posted September 23, 2006 You never plan on skiing any of the stuff from TGR...but you want us to get all excited about that Quote
poconoceancity Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 But I post links to pictures of people skiing...that's exciting...Wow it went down to 38 degrees in the Poconos...that boring...I want to see pictures of people wearing jackets...I'm weird.. If it's 38 in the Poconos, it's got to be below freezing in Killington...Too bad they won't fire up the guns. Quote
skidude Posted September 23, 2006 Author Report Posted September 23, 2006 Almost every year (although I don't remember them doing it last year) they take the first night they can blow snow and 'blow the mice out'...turn on the guns for a few hours and let people hike for turns...But they might have realized they don't make money doing that, and stopped... I don't know if they officially did it last year because they actually opened earlier then expected, so that may have been when they blew the mice out Quote
ColoradoHigh Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 They killed mice? Oh how sad. Sorry, had to say it. Quote
Dan- Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I don't know if they officially did it last year because they actually opened earlier then expected, so that may have been when they blew the mice out Nope. They got 3ft of snow in late october from 2 storm systems, and opened up for the last weekend in october. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Nope. They got 3ft of snow in late october from 2 storm systems, and opened up for the last weekend in october. didnt i just say that? lol I know they opened because of alot of snow, I almost drove up there. I should have worded that better though. If they did officially blow out the mice (as a marketing thing, of course) they probably did it while they were open in that stretch. Quote
Dan- Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 When i was at Killy on the 22nd or 23rd. They said they were gonna blow out the mice shortly. So take it how you want it. Could of been around the times of the storms. Quote
method9455 Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Ha I wish I could find the quote but A-Basin rep said they wanted to try and actually race Loveland for 1st open this year. And he said something like in the past we've made some snow but this year we have FOURTEEN guns ready to fire. As if that number was high. I know out west they don't make snow like we do here but that just made me laugh. My roommate at college is from Oregon and his home mountain is Mt Bachelor and he's never seen them make snow outside of the park or near a lift before, he didn't even know it was like an option. I can't wait to bring him to Mountain Creek and watch him try to iceskate down the hill for the first time, east coast represent. (Of course I might have to take a trip out and stay with him some time) Quote
