according to papers two feet of snow fell in western New York yesterday and last night. could this be a sign that we are going to get LOTs of snow this winter? i hope so

At this point its about consistant cold more than real snow. I'd take a winter that was consistantly cold over a winter that had a lot of natural snow with warm spells in between. Snowmaking, grooming are 80% of the quality of the snow in the east and real snow is like 20%.

Like doug said, it was all lake effect snow. nothing to actually do with the jet streams and so forth. Places around the great lakes always get a good amount of snow every year. Unfortunatly there's no REAL mountains around them.

Thats what I like to see this time of year. Back in 02 when it snowed on Halloween it was a great season. Hopefully this season will be similar, if not better.
