bigdaddyk Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 (edited) onthesnow.com has CB's projected opening listed as 12-13-06 and they give a projected closing of 3-13-07. Blue is listed as 12-1-06 and a closing of 3-31-07. I was surprised to see a projected closing date, this early. Edited November 6, 2006 by bigdaddyk Quote

Given that CB have dates on the calendar through March 17th weekend, I can't see them closing earlier (or later) than that. Quote
Margaritaville Skier Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 That's just it, it's all projections. Old man winter has the final say. It's got to be cold enough to make snow and then stay cold enough to maintain it. All you can do is hope for the best when you ski in the banana belt ! Quote
jordan Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 how you gonna close on a saturday, BLUE? Quote
Dan- Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I hope they do. The slopes were still full of people on closing weekend last year So there is definatly still an interest that late into the season. Quote
Schif Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Easter isn't until April 7th...well...lets just hope they can be open by Christmas...haha Very true, lets worry about mountains opening before we worry about them closing. Quote
method9455 Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 Just checked a few weather forecasts for Blue, BC, MC, Hunter. Doesn't look like there will be any snowmaking temperatures in the next 2 weeks, maybe not even until the very last day or two of Nov. Not good, but luckily they don't know a fucking thing about the weather so they could be wrong. Hunter may be able to find some temperatures to make snow, but I can't see a solid day of snowmaking anywhere south of that. Quote

Everyone i have seen, shows temps going back to down on day 6 and day 7. Then the rest of the 15 day is snowmaking nights for NY and VT. None of us should be worried about PA weather for another two weeks. All we need is temps to be average, if they are below average well hey then thats a bonus. Quote
bigdaddyk Posted November 16, 2006 Author Report Posted November 16, 2006 (edited) From onthesnow.com: Big Boulder: Projected opening: 12-2-06 Projected closing: 3-19-07 Jack Frost: Projected opening: 12-2-06 Projected closing: 3-26-07. If the forecast holds up, they could get a lot of the runs open, if they hold off until 12-2. I figured BB would look at closing 3-19, because the snowmobile races are the week after that . Hopefully they open back up.....but at this point, I just want them to open. Edited November 16, 2006 by bigdaddyk Quote
Granola Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 that actually has them closing early then last year Quote
Sno Mountain Skier Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 that actually has them closing early then last year Are yo sure. Because i was there on ski for free day, and thats the last day of the season, and that day was the 19th. Quote
rideKINK156 Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 http://wwwa.accuweather.com/forecast.asp?p...62&metric=0 looks promising, we can just hope it stays in that trend Quote
Papasteeze Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Are yo sure. Because i was there on ski for free day, and thats the last day of the season, and that day was the 19th. I am betting limited park terrain and limited lifts until the snow melts after the 19th - The 19th would be the formal closing for everyone else. They announce many times over at the May Rail Jam that we would try to open early and close late. WE NEED COLD WEATHER. not marginal weather, COLD WEATHER Quote
Tyler Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 http://wwwa.accuweather.com/forecast.asp?p...62&metric=0 looks promising, we can just hope it stays in that trend but dont be surprised if that changes by tomorrow... Quote

rideKINK156 Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 Alllllll right then, it looks like the week after thanksgiving may be a go for snowmaking. Its been holding that the temps will get cold enough for a few days now. So Im going to go out on a limb and call Dec. 9 for a probable opening day at bear. Most other mountans are either gonna open that weekend or the weekends before or after depending on where you are and how the weather goes. Quote
ridesnwboards Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 anyone have an opening date for bc? Quote
method9455 Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 mountain creek is aiming for the 9th we'll see what happens. Quote
rideKINK156 Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Not gonna happen. Four days of snowmaking weather after Thanksgiving, if they pushed for it they could open on the 3rd but then they'd have to endure another week of warm weather. Something tells me nobodys going to open until the 15th or so. Quote
Shadows Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 im callin it... bellayre is gonna open friday, bet you 5 bucks. i got that inside info Quote
rideKINK156 Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 bellayre isnt exactly local for me though Quote
Papasteeze Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 The lights are on at Whitetail uhhhh... word is that the NC VA WV western MD area is looking good for this winter. Quote
sethsev7n Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Given the new 15 day forcast from accuweather I'm going to say the 8th for CB Quote
rideKINK156 Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Yeah but its 8 days away for BC to start making snow so it can definitely still change. Quote
