AtomicSkier
Thats sweet. I'm sure Rahlves and Schlopy are getting a nice big check for just showing up to participate in the Skier X, and I'm pretty sure they'd be shoe ins to win. It sounds like they are legitmate contenders not just some talking heads.
First Grade Teacher
That's very cool but I wouldn't say skier cross is the "park scene". I doubt Rahlves and Schlopy are going to compete in pipe. Should be cool to watch though! I hope it makes it to a channel I get.
Ski
Nothing like watching retired racers make a quick buck. The Jeep King of the Mountain downhill series was kind of sad. The announcers kept calling the guys the "elite speed racers of the world", but their last World Cup win had been 15 years earlier. There's a saying called "jumping the shark", which is a reference to the very end of the show Happy Days in which Fonzie is water skiing and was so cool that he jumped a shark. Then the show was cancelled. The Jeep Series took a dive when they literally had racers jump a parked Jeep that was tucked into a whaleback. It sucks that the Paul Mitchell Celebrity Ski Classic gets better rating than the World Cup in the US...oh, well. Yeah, except in the couple of local skiercross events that I have been to, it seems that only park rats participate. Ridge entered one 2 years ago or so and took 3rd against kids twice his age/size. I think it will be cool to watch these super talented racers run as fast as they can through a shaped obstacle course. Sounds like fun. Sounds like fun. anytime i've done skiercross at blue when any of the race kids entered, they got housed by us "park rats." some of us can ski outside the park as well, and it seemed to me like the racers didnt really know how to pump transition to gain speed as well as we did. Not to pick a fight, but I'm wondering if it was any of the top racers drifted over and you "housed" them, or if you "housed" a couple of weekenders? I mean, it'd be sort of funny if the top racers bragged about "housing" the park rats on a race course when it turned out to be a couple of random kids from the Darkside. I think it's great that there's going to be more skiing on TV. I always liked the Jeep King of the mountain events along with the celebrity ski classic...good stuff..I wish I got RCN TV,, It'd be great if they got Tomba to compete.
