The DsB Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 Haha, I've watched the DC mtn lab video every day fdor the past month, I can't wait for bc to open, I'm gonna become a regular there I hope, if my car can make it lol Quote
Tyler Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 looks like they put out a decent amount of snow... HOLY SHIT, the Snow is coming down at my house....actually just some heavy flurries.... Quote
The DsB Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 Ahh, I hate you. Lol, I need some damn snow, seems like its not gonna ever happen here in philly Quote
rideKINK156 Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 Why do they wait so long each night to turn on the guns? I remember in previous years they turned those things on right after it dipped below freezing. Quote
ThinkSnow Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 They mentioned a couple of times yesterday how warm the water in their reservoir was. I am assuming that would still be the reason for waiting till the air temp was slightly colder than would normally be acceptable. Quote
rideKINK156 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 On account of it being in the 70s last week I guess. I still dont see why they need to open 80-90% of their terrain with a "top notch park" on opening day. But whatever 6 days till I get to ride again Quote
Papasteeze Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 They mentioned a couple of times yesterday how warm the water in their reservoir was. . word... 48 degrees. Quote
petter369 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 anybody know why the lights arent on? Quote
ThinkSnow Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 anybody know why the lights arent on? They've gone to stealth mode? They want to surprise you in the morning? Quote
petter369 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 They've gone to stealth mode? They want to surprise you in the morning? HAHAH although seriously, I want to see some more snowmaking action Quote
rideKINK156 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 The lights are on but they still havent turned the guns on they're taking a really wierd approach to making snow everyone else is going insane making snow whenever possible it looks like Bear is only making snow between 9:30 and whenever in the morning ... do they have a different snowmaking crew this year? Quote
GNU_rider Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 I'd guess that it's just not worth having to pay the extra money to have the lights running all night to light up the mountain when no ones riding it, it also might be that they like to make like these guys... Quote
rideKINK156 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 They need to throw some ice cubes in the pond or something. Its ridiculous that they should have to wait. I just checked accuweather, we hit the 28 degree mark so Im sure we'll see something soon. Quote

GNU_rider Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 That is really odd last year they didn't mess around at all they blew from the first possible window to the last. Quote

rideKINK156 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 They arent making snow tomorrow night. too warm Quote
Tyler Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 probably not, but they can get back on it thursday night, most of the day friday (high:30), and saturday night... http://wwwa.accuweather.com/forecast.asp?p...62&metric=0 Quote
rideKINK156 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 (edited) And then they got sunday and monday too if they want to open on tuesday. but Im serious do they have a different snowmaking crew? I never remember them having a time limit to when they blew snow and thats what it almost seems like is happening. Maybe its just the water temp because of last week I dunno, it just seems wierd Edited December 6, 2006 by rideKINK156 Quote
Bobert540 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 It is because of the water temp, the ground has been so warm because of the unusual warm weather we have had. We are blowing as much as we can to open with the best conditions on the trails we are blowing on.... Quote
