CaptDave Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Looks like Whistler and Baker are two of the places to be now. They both have received over ten feet of snow in the past two weeks! I guess El Nino is being good to some this fall. lol Quote
Dan- Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 To bad, it's dangerous as hell right now. Thats alot of unstable snow. PNW'ers better be careful for the next few weeks. Quote

The Baker website says only people with transponders and shovels are allowed on Lift 8 (which is their summit lift). good call KD. Time to revisit Whistler this winter if this kind of snowfall keeps up. Quote
snorovr Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Wish I was in the home land right now. I've gotten pics and e-mails from a couple friends who have gone out and I wanna kill myself. It never snows in Seattle, like once a year if that. It usually hovers right around 40 degrees with misty rain all winter. Baker is a great hill in a dump. So many fun lines. You can stay in bounds all day and never get bored. The lines in the BC there are somethin else though. I think I'm gonna put an app. in at Whistler or Baker if I don't go to Utah when I graduate. I wanna ride baker so bad... I'd go for Baker. You have seattle right there, and Im sure baker rarely gets "Crowded" Quote
Tyler Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 right now its snowing in seattle, i dont think it really ever snows there much its not slowing shaun alexander down, he is running all over the packers... Quote
Dan- Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 its not slowing shaun alexander down, he is running all over the packers... Who doesn't run all over the packers... These days anyway. Quote
snorovr Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Packers were givin em a good run there for a little bit though. I thought it was an exciting game. Baker is like 2 and a half hours from Seattle depending on weather. It definitely doesnt get crowded but there aren't any high speed lifts that access any of the best stuff. The quality of the runs more than make up for that fact. Quote

snorovr Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Ya its like a 40-45 minute run from Bellingham. Thats really where you'd stay if you wanted to ride Baker and have cheaper budget hotel lodging. There aren't really any hotels between Baker and Bellingham and I don't know if they allow car camping in their lot. Quote
snorovr Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 We've been getting what seems like 2 feet of rain almost every week in PA for the fall. When will it get cold!?!? Forecasts for snowmaking look good after this week though. If stuff doesn't change for the worse we could see opening days around the 9th. I talked to some buddies who skied Crystal Mt. and then said it was waist deep and super stable. I told them to send me some white powder in a letter, but the authorities would probably jump all over us. Quote
Dan- Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Here's a video from Baker Yesterday http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68780 Quote
CaptDave Posted December 2, 2006 Author Report Posted December 2, 2006 They really started the season in a fantastic way. Quote
Dan- Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Fantastic more like EPIC. They deserve it though, after what they went through a year or 2 ago. Quote
CaptDave Posted December 15, 2006 Author Report Posted December 15, 2006 Another foot of snow for the PNW Quote
snorovr Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 My buddy that runs a shop in Seattle was "nipple deep" the other day. Quote
CaptDave Posted December 16, 2006 Author Report Posted December 16, 2006 My buddy that runs a shop in Seattle was "nipple deep" the other day. I believe it. I have never been to Baker but a work colleague who lives in Seattle area told me about it. I actually looked up flight prices for over News Year's, about $500. lol Mid February was like $325. Quote
Papasteeze Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 I am thinking about a mid season run to Revelstoke, any one heard of it? Quote

Dan- Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I am thinking about a mid season run to Revelstoke, any one heard of it? yes i have heard of Revelstoke, and it is probably one of the sickest places i've ever seen pictures off... I wanna do a baker trip so bad. But only being 18, and not aloud to rent a car is preventing that until another time. Quote
