nick
Something NEEDS to be done about people that dont belong in the park just rolling through. I was there both saturday and sunday and it was the worst i have ever seen. At times we would have to wait for almost 10 minutes to hit the jumps in boulder park because there was so many people going down and carving over the landing or falling on the lip, or even just riding over the lip. And things were even worse in freedom park, parents who's kids could barely stand on their own were taking their little kids up the freedom lift and coming down through the park, carving across jumps, cutting people offf etc. etc..... And WORST of all was when a bunch of ski instructors decided that it would be a great idea to take a couple turns in the freedom park....COME ON!!! WHAT THE HELL!!! do you guys not teach all of your employees this stuff??? they should be helping keep people out that dont belong there, not being dumbasses themselves and causing more trouble. The whole left side of the mountain was open and skiable to do some nice turns why not go over there????? I thought bear creek was bad when it came to this stuff but that was just fucking ridiculous!!!
paolo
I kno what u mean. I didnt know about the park on the right side of the mountain so I stayed in the other park for the beginning. It was really crappy there. Then I went to the park on the right side and it was a little bit better but still not great.

bigdaddyk
Like I've said before, learn to expect it. The more trails they turn into parks, the more people you are going to get on them that don't use the features. Especially when the whole mountain isn't open. nick
and thats exactly why i dont ride weekends there.. i only have a weekday pass and i am thankful for it!! I would tell anyone whos in highschool or college to work weekends and just ride as much as you can during the week yeah but its not that easy for some of us who have to drive an hour to get there....but its still better then my alternative option- Ride at blue. haha I understand the whole more parks= more people in them, but when theirs only 2 parks and the rest of the mountain is open (besides like one trail i think) why do people have to be so ignorant, and its not even the people were its their first time on skiis but the people that should be working to help control the situation!! ( SKI INSTRUCTORS ) Yeah you can accuse me of bitching but it truly is a safety hazard and not just to the people who actually ride the park, but the people who are carving across the landings of the jumps and stuff, somebody could easily get really hurt. uninc
last year freedom was the skischool hill hence the snowmonsters area to the left magic carpet discovery area that was one of park logics dumb ass ideas im a snowboard instructor i tell all my students not to ride on the parks and dont take them there but the other options suck we have tannenbaum and little boulder both have narrow entrances which make it difficult for beginners and both are steeper than freedom it was better when the beginners were secluded to that side of the mt now we have to have stations set up on the side of every beginner trail which sux cuz assholes decide to ride down the middle of a fenced off area and also our area is sloping to the side of the trail plz if you are riding on a trail and notice a lesson going down go around them its not going to kill you make everyones life easier slow down it scares little kids when some one goes flying past them when there trying to learn most of us snowboarders especially do our best to stay out of your way and out of the park we all hate that shit your not going to see the smart style at boulder because it will cost to much money to put in effect for a year or 2 since the whole mt is going to be a park hence the name BIG BOULDER PARK peak has mulitiple mts and im sure they have put a whole lot of thought into this plan and see the demand for Parks worst i ever saw was skipatrol standin right below the knuckle of the jump on merry widow last year freedom was the skischool hill hence the snowmonsters area to the left magic carpet discovery area that was one of park logics dumb ass ideas im a snowboard instructor i tell all my students not to ride on the parks and dont take them there but the other options suck we have tannenbaum and little boulder both have narrow entrances which make it difficult for beginners and both are steeper than freedom it was better when the beginners were secluded to that side of the mt now we have to have stations set up on the side of every beginner trail which sux cuz assholes decide to ride down the middle of a fenced off area and also our area is sloping to the side of the trail plz if you are riding on a trail and notice a lesson going down go around them its not going to kill you make everyones life easier slow down it scares little kids when some one goes flying past them when there trying to learn most of us snowboarders especially do our best to stay out of your way and out of the park we all hate that shit your not going to see the smart style at boulder because it will cost to much money to put in effect for a year or 2 since the whole mt is going to be a park hence the name BIG BOULDER PARK peak has mulitiple mts and im sure they have put a whole lot of thought into this plan and see the demand for Parks worst i ever saw was skipatrol standin right below the knuckle of the jump on merry widow
NiftySHIFTY
but the people who are carving across the landings of the jumps and stuff, somebody could easily get really hurt. Last time I was there, it must have been around 8:00pm and I was flying down to hit the first jump. Skier on far right looks back and sees me coming...I figure good, he saw me. What does he do? Continue down the trail, cut left DIRECTLY across the landing of the jump at the same exact time I'm going off the jump. By the time I'm ready to land, he is dead center in the landing, just watching me come through the air. I landed right on the tip of his skis, probably on the front of the bindings too...he was that close. Luckily neither one of us fell, but it could have been bad had I been going any slower, or him faster.
Papasteeze
drop in groups, take turns holding and clearing the jump, have patience, scream drop all the way down, until a system gets sorted out there is not much anyone can do. It sucks, I think that the crowd problem is a by-product of poor conditions and limited trails, holiday crowds from other mountains. it was probabaly as bad as it will ever get. bigdaddyk
...since the whole mt is going to be a park hence the name BIG BOULDER PARK peak has mulitiple mts and im sure they have put a whole lot of thought into this plan and see the demand for Parks ... I don't see that happening, but then again they didn't listen to the complaints about the season passes. If they do this, they are going to loose a lot of business. uninc
think about how many college students kids from other local mts that dont have good parks if a whole mt is a park they will want to come you wouldnt have 2 wait an hour to drop i take it you freeride i like mixin it up a bit but from a park riders view this would be an awsome idea no beginners going down the hill to cut you off mainly just kids who know what there doing and remember if its good enough they will come
MBtech
I just fly throught the park and hit anyone who stands in my way that doesn't know what there doing in the park. That pretty much clears the way for my friends and then we rotate. And for the people that lay on the landings of the jumps when there not really hurt, prepare to get hurt. uninc
yea i just yell drop and if someones in my way who doesnt know what there doin i just go for it, it gets fun when multiple ppl r on the lip of the jump at the same time

I could imagine just a "park mountain" would have to get boring, without the plain trails for variety.

Schif
I free ski. I could imagine just a "park mountain" would have to get boring, without the plain trails for variety. Conversely, many people could say the exact opposite. Especially at Boulder. I've always been more of a free rider, but at boulder I get bored very quickly on those trails. Boulder Park was a fun trail to rip down last night, but thats really it for fun non-park trails up there.

Schif
You have to go to JF for Free riding. And because tickets work on both mountains, an all park hill at boulder would actually work. Jack Frost needs night skiing like the rest of Pennsylvania.. Does anyone know why they don't have lights?
anthony
And because tickets work on both mountains, an all park hill at boulder would actually work. Does anyone know why they don't have lights? JF does have lights, but apparently they are there for the late night snow making. They do need to turn it into a night mountain too, spread out the people between JF and BB.
uninc
last i saw they dont have lights lining the trail i think the reason is so ppl have the chance to ride both mts and r pretty much forced into it but if bb is turned into a park they r going to need to light the jf
bigdaddyk
I sort of like JF being a daytime mt. I think it helps to conserve and keep the snow in really good shape. If they do make BB a total park, They probably won't have much choice to light JF...hopefully better than what Elk is though.
