Eatons are the way to go. Cheap, quiet, efficient, durable. A LOT of guys over on snowguns.com use them. Some pretty impressive shit over there- i'm sure you know. Quote
pyro_boarder Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I've got one too. Definitely a solid compressor. Quote
rgrwilco Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 (edited) how long did your eaton take to ship? and yeah there is alot of impressive shit at snowguns.com. im in the process of making a tower gun like this:http://backyardblizzard.com/snowwand.htm . hopefully i can figure out a real efficient way to make snow in marginal conditions. pyro_boarder Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I got mine a couple years ago, but I think I shipped pretty quick. Good luck with the snowmaking. Quote
skifreak Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I only hear good things about them from other home snowmakers. I haven't been on snowguns.com in awhile, but a lot of members there have them. Niftyshifty would know for sure since he's a regular there. Quote
NiftySHIFTY Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Pretty much what has been said already. Most air for your money probably. Some people had minor problems, but called them up and the part they needed was shipped out right away. You should be able to get a couple solid seasons in before you need to replace anything(except oil of course). Quote
rgrwilco Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 good. sounds like a made a good decision. my last compressor was oil-less(i didnt have to buy it) so im not too sure what to do maintanance wise with this one. what kind of oil do i have to buy? Quote

It'll come with oil. Then read the manual as to when to replace it. When you replace it, you use compressor-grade oil, from sears or whatever. Quote
skifreak Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 The directions will say what oil to use. Generally you can find compressor oil anywhere that sells compressors. Quote
rgrwilco Posted January 16, 2007 Author Report Posted January 16, 2007 so it arrived today, and the instructions are very vague. they say to start it up, to open the air receivers drain valve or outlet valve. where exactly is that? is that the valve on the bottom of the bottom tank, or the valve coming from the side of the top tank? or is it somewhere else? They pretty much want you to open the tank any way so the compressor doesn't cycle. After you throw oil in it forthe first time, you wanna let it run for like a half hour nonstop to break it in. So, either the water valve on the bottom of the tank or where your quick connects will go will work just fine. Quote
