adrock Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 We have been blowing in the Bushkill Park for around 48 hours now. We are going to continue to blow for the next two days and we will be building the park Wednesday and Thursday. Barring any major setbacks the park should be ready by Friday. We are not going to build the pipe yet. Once we get some more terrain open we will go back to the pipe and start blowing that. I will have a park layout soon. We currently have our incubator learning park open which has a nice progression of low, wide ride-on boxes and rails leading up to a gap on flat-down box. Perfect for little guys learning how to slide. Quote

Snoshredder21 Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 sounds good.........but can u guys try and get the halfpipe looking like an actually halfpipe this year, unlike the last 3 seasons Quote
Glenn Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 The progression park was pretty jank the other day. For some reason all the features were located on the side of the trail, so you had to edge on the snow to end up flat on the features. Also that flat-down needs trashed or totally re worked. I had fun anyways though. ... Still better than CB's park Quote
Papasteeze Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 ... Still better than CB's park I think there are some back yard parks better than CB... seriously! Quote

I had fun anyways though. ... Still better than CB's park The reason that we had to use the side of the trail is because our ski school will be using the other side of that trail for two hours on weeknights to teach lessons. We have a huge group lesson business and with the limited terrain open they will have to use that trail. I hope it didn't create too big of a problem. It's a little tough when you have people with different needs that you are trying to accomodate in a limited amount of space. Also, one of the problems we had in our park last year was people just riding down. We thought that by putting features on one side and leaving the other side open then people who were just "riding through" would stay out of the way of those that were using the features. As for the flat-down....it came out slightly out of level to the left. If this was what you were referring to it will be re-set in the next day or two. Thanks for the feedback. Quote
Seymour Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 From what I hear you don't let the park crew make lips in the incubator because everything has to be ride on.... scrap that. let them make small street style gaps where you can hit it street style or straight on. You going to have too steep of a learning curve or a bad main park. Also, take the rail out of the bottom and put them in the incubator. Quote
method9455 Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Any idea when we'll see Bushkill opening up? By next week? Quote
adrock Posted January 22, 2007 Author Report Posted January 22, 2007 Bushkill will be open by this weekend. Quote
Snoshredder21 Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 nice, i wanna check out that other park too, i liked the mc style boxes in the pics...... but uh yea still..get a good pipe, campgaws is better then urs Quote
parkbuilder Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 (edited) nice, i wanna check out that other park too, i liked the mc style boxes in the pics...... but uh yea still..get a good pipe, campgaws is better then urs the pipe had plenty of set backs last year, one of which is snowmaking. with the poor weather last year (yet better than this year's!) its tough to maintain snow to the rest of the resort yet alone a pipe that absorbs so much snowmaking. The economins of snowmaking are an intricate part to the whole picture. Adam, I am doing very well right now... the snow is awsome, and although i'm 21 now i have plenty of other priorities/resposibilities. ( I recomend the lookout bar n grill... free hot wings at happy hour from 3-6 ) Jay Rosenbaum our park and pipe director has really taken me under his wing and ive learned much more safety aspects as well as the buisness end of parks. Give me your email adress and Ill sneak you some super cheap ideas for features. Ive also been in the shop alot fixing new features as well as fabricating new ones. (Flat down flat box - oh yea cory and me.) Let me know around graduation when shawnee is ready for a parks department... (when the weather changes! I know I know... cash rules everything around me... C.R.E.A.M) Godd luck guys with your building! And finally... Check out shawnee's parks, Its a hidden gem. Edited January 23, 2007 by parkbuilder Quote
Glenn Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 As for the flat-down....it came out slightly out of level to the left. If this was what you were referring to it will be re-set in the next day or two. Thanks for the feedback. It was mounted crooked but that was only a minor setback. I think the rails are higher than the sliding surface and they felt super sticky. Everytime I tried to slide it, it was super sketchy. Maybe it just needed to be filed? Quote
