am476 Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 I haven't been to blue this year and was thinking of heading out there. However, it takes about an hour and 40 minutes to get there, so I wanted to know if they have seeded moguls on main street (barney's bumps) yet. That's the main thing that I want to do today and would be disappointed if it was flat. If not, Camelback has seeded moguls on one of their green trails, so I'd rather go there. Any responses would be appreciated. Quote
am476 Posted February 8, 2007 Author Report Posted February 8, 2007 That's too bad. Thanks for the quick reply. Quote
Skizilla Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 There were moguls on Main Street for a few weeks...but they've been groomed out so I'm thinking they'll let them grow again once they blow more snow...As of last night there wasn't one mogul at Blue mountain... That's beat. They were nice too. Quote
Justo8484 Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 they plowed them?! they were absolutely amazing tuesday! honestly on par with stuff i've skied up north or out west. lame... Quote
AtomicSkier Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Justin, they were starting to get really good, but, I'd rather see them keep them for a few days and let them get good, and then knock them down before they get bad, and let them form again, and keep the cycle going. Though, I'm never complaining with a flat main street BTW, WHY would you goto Camelback just for a green bump run? That's really funny. Quote
shopey1080 Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 blues bumps good??? thats wierd Quote
Finndog Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Blues bumps good? 100 yds of icy, rutted gullies is good? Hmm, I just got back from Steamboat skiing 1500' runs of real bumps. well-formed, soft and fun. Don't make a trip for the mortar-holes! Quote
Glenn Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 CB's green bump run is fun, but I'm not it's worth spending an entire day on (arguably neither is barney's bumps). You might want to ask the Sno people if White lightning has bumps right now... if you like bumps you could easily spend all day on that. Altenatively when I was last at frost they had 2 ungroomed bump trails, 1 a blue, the other was a diamond, both lots of fun! Quote
mbike-ski Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 barneys bumps at blue have been way better this year than in other years ill agree...i wouldn't make any decision based on the camelback green bump run (lame last year) Quote
bigdaddyk Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 JF has a really good bump run on thunderbolt. Quote
Skizilla Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 I only got to hit the bumps on Lower Cleo at CB once at night. They were pretty good. I heard a rumor that they were going to dump a lot of snow on Rocket or Margies there and let part of it get bumped up. Guess it was just a rumor. I know everyone is hating on how lower cleo is an easier trail but the lack of incline takes some of the hesitation away for people who really want to learn how to control themselves in the bumps. So if you take it from a learning perspective it's not so bad. It really forces you to work on your technique. The bumps on Main Street were phenomenal!!! I haven't seen a mogul run in PA that nice ever. It was too good to last. Quote
toast21602 Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 they were up again today. woooohoooo Quote
Bobert540 Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 They should have the moguls go all the way down main st. until switchback merges, now that would be a sweet mogul run... Quote
mbike-ski Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 thats the way it was last year although the bumps themselves werent as nice as this years - i know i was sucking wind by time i got to the bottom last year! It was "steep" (its all relative) at the top and bottom with a flat section in the middle... Quote
am476 Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 (edited) BTW, WHY would you goto Camelback just for a green bump run? That's really funny. explanation: 1) i've always sucked at skiing big bumps (ones that are larger than those that normally form on slightly ungroomed trails), so big moguls on a green trail provide a perfect opportunity to practice. it was a nice way to boost my confidence on bumps. 2) i wasn't aware of real moguls in other ski areas that were close by. 3) camelback is 20-25 minutes closer to me than blue. toast21602 Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 ski the bumps at Blue. steep and good, as of right now... Quote
trimreaper Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 The bumps are back. I agree with steeze I'd rather see them mowed down and redone before they become an icy mess. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 bumps were PERFECT tonight....I was on my 183's and shredding the gnar with GrilledSteezeSandwich Doug and "Entitlement" Ben. They were so good we did them 4 times, which is a rarity. PERFECT. Quote
mbike-ski Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 o yeah last night they were nice, skiied 'em 2x before hearing my name on the PA being summoned to first aid - daughters friend down with bruised pelvis boarding this morning they were a little more abrupt and skiied off in between = lot more work but still pretty nice Quote
Stevo Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I like the moguls. They were good last night and this morning, i had a lot of fun on em- nice leg burn. Never really rode moguls, but now i'm messing around with them more, and i'm realizing how fun they are. Quote
