bigdaddyk Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 The new computer model runs give the Lehigh Valley a foot plus of snow with one of them (the Canadian model) giving us upwards of two feet of light, fluffy, powdery snow attached is a map of potential snow accumulations bases on a 10:1 snow ratio which may be too low. Ration may be around 15:1 thus giving us more. What is the link for these maps? Quote
jordan Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 18z is coming out, HOLY FUCKING NAM Quote
Timeless Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 18z is coming out, HOLY FUCKING NAM for those of us not interested in the geekery but are interested in the snow, can you explain this map a little? Quote
bigdaddyk Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 (edited) for those of us not interested in the geekery but are interested in the snow, can you explain this map a little? For eastern PA, that translates into at least 6 inches of snow, the darker blue could be around a foot. Keep in mind, that's only for a six hour time period, a lot could change either way, also. Man, if we haven't jinxed this storm. stever2003 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Hopefully my work can call a snowday. Except then i don't get paid since i'm only intern . But apparently, they lose $70,000 a day if they close for snow from paying all the career people. Quote

jordan Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 heh, looks like even WNEP jumped on board with this storm this morning Quote
jordan Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 The GFS is now calling for 1.5-2 inch water content with this storm in the poconos. That transfers to 15"-20" of snow at 10 to 1 ratios Quote
NJSkiFamily Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 This news keeps getting better and better. Thanks for the updates everyone - keep us posted. I would be disappointed with "just" a foot. Two feet is needed. Quote
ColoradoHigh Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Thats about a foot, maybe more for almost all of PA. That includes Blue Mountain! Quote
ColoradoHigh Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 A meteorolgist on Accuweather.com. He sure does love snow. Quote
ColoradoHigh Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Forecasters are actually predicting a change over from snow to rain at night, but I doubt that would happen. But still, a foot of snow is always nice, and it will stay around because temps are supposedly staying in the twenties and even teens! :rock :rock Quote

jordan Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 (edited) the NAM coming out right now looks unsettlingly warm mixing issues are looking more and more like a possibility Edited February 11, 2007 by jordan Quote

bigdaddyk Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 We've really jinxed the shit out of this storm. Quote
bigdaddyk Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I'm 45 mins west of JF and JF usually gets more snow than I do, due to the mountains. Here's what NOAA is calling for where I live, near Bloomsburg: OVERALL...ABOUT 10 TO 14 INCHES FOR MOST AREAS...SLIGHTLY LESS NORTH CENTRAL ZONES...PERHAPS A FEW MORE INCHES IN ISOALTED AREAS ACROSS HIGHLANDS...AND NORTH OF MDT...ESPECIALLY UP TOWARD SULLIVAN CO. WELCOME TO WINTER. Quote
bigdaddyk Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Harrisburg has a winter storm watch so this might actually happen.. I'll believe it when I ski it. Quote
