Will Shawnee open on the 3rd?

Shawnee is still targeting Dec 3rd as their opening date. Think that'll happen??

Well, they are forecasting snow showers for the poc's on saturday, maybe they're going to blow a quick couple of inches on one run so they can claim to be first open.

 

On this planet there is no way anywhere around here is going to be open this weekend, I'm off to Killington with some skiers from work, I can't stand sitting around every weekend praying for snow and my promised (work) trip to Europe has been postponed 'til January .

Im about as optimistic as you can be, but there is no way they will be open by the third.

Maybe with a 2 in base slushy surface (arguably base with how thin it will be) and one trail.

As every year they try to open early this year is no exception they aren't. There is no way anybody will be open for awhile around here.

i emailed them yesterday and asked if they were gonna be open by the 8th and they said there targeting the 11th as there opening day

Definatly not happening....Enless theres a major cool down and they can blow enough snow for an opening of one trail. But its not happening.

Yeah, they changed the date since I started the thread.

 

For some strange reason, I've been getting my hopes up too often this year. Since early Nov I've been hopeful (on and off) for an early start to this season.

I've realized I need to just give up with getting frustrated and becoming hopeful. The only thing I can do is a trip to Vermont and watch tons of ski videos. Trust me, both help tremendously (especially the Vermont part)
