Papasteeze Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Big Boulder is still planning to blow as soon as temps allow. The forecast for temps are marginal but the plan is to open with Freedom Park first. It is possible (with cold temps) that next weekend that there will be some jibs up on Freedom first. Quote
k2wwwkid Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 that will b amazing but i think that it mite melt during the day Quote
frostyburton Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 went to the rehire meeting and they said earliest date of opening is boulder on nov 17 and dec 8? sumtin liek that Quote
VTmark Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 if they opened that early they would beat a lot of areas in NE. Quote
snowboarddude Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 where did u hear they were opening?? Quote
Dan- Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 where did u hear they were opening?? He just said he went to the REHIRE MEETING. Quote
frostyburton Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 lol nice underline ^^^^ btw the snowblowing should start sumt time after friday if the weather goes as predicted Quote
Papasteeze Posted November 4, 2007 Author Report Posted November 4, 2007 where did u hear they were opening?? They were announcing it all day long at the Mike and Matts Rail Jam - November 3rd + 10 days equals November 13th or earlier, weather permitting. It also depends on snow coverage and your definition of "open" Think COLD temps this week. Quote
snowboarddude Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 can we get some pics from the rail jam??? how was it Quote
poconoceancity Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 The mount Pocono forecast makes next weekend look like a possibility...http://www.accuweather.com/forecast-15day....44&metric=0 Is Big Boulder typically colder than Mount Pocono??? Yes, it's at a higher elevation...having spent many winter weekends in lake harmony I noticed that the temp at CB was usually 5 degrees warmer than the temp in lake harmony. Quote
Jessica Anne Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 the sooner they open the better =) i can't waittttt <3 Quote
Glenn Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 I think Mt Pocono has a higher elevation that CB's base. I doubt the summit elevation is greater. Quote
method9455 Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 The 17th looks more solid, how long did it take them to get freedom open last year? 3 nights? 4? I might go look back to last years threads when I get a chance. Quote
sarasnow16 Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 last year it took them 3 days to get 3 or 4 slope open and with jibs on freedom so it not long all we need is the weather. Does any one know when the last time there were open in Nov. Quote
bigdaddyk Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 (edited) went to the rehire meeting and they said earliest date of opening is boulder on nov 17 and dec 8? sumtin liek thatAny information if they are going to get rid of all the parks at JF?Big Boulder is still planning to blow as soon as temps allow. The current forecast doesn't have any sustained temps to make snow and the daytime temps are too warm. Belleayre probably won't even be able to do it. They will probably end up opening about the same time as last year, hopefully. Edited November 5, 2007 by bigdaddyk Quote
sarasnow16 Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 last year they did not even blow snow during the day for some power reason Quote
method9455 Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 That was later in the year, when they where opening they blew during the day. They can def open freedom in a few nights. The fan guns put out so much snow there, it could happen. What was the date last year? I feel like I want to say Dec 5th? Quote
method9455 Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 I'll put my $ is on Nov 10th for Mount Snow & Sunday River, Nov 17th for Belleayre and BB's Freedom Park, Killington, Okemo and Stratton. I'm just guessing but it sounds good to me. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 (edited) Any information if they are going to get rid of all the parks at JF? Whatever happened to Jane's Lane? Isn't that where one park is now? And whats the deal with the Jack Frost Glades? They have it listed under what's new for this season but there is nothing new on the trail map. Anyway, it would be great to be skiing as soon as the 17th here in PA. Only a few weeks now!! Edited November 5, 2007 by PA Ridge Racer Quote

With the humidity, I don't think it would be good for blowing snow, with the fan guns.http://www.accuweather.com/forecast-15day....24&metric=0 Quote

Jane's Lane is going to be a regular slope. One Park is still gonna be there. That is on the slope formerly known as Tobyhanna. The trees at the top of Toby plus all the existing glades were cleaned out and made much nicer.....but the sickest glade-work was done in the large tree area between Challenge and East Mtn. This area could be a named trail and be put on the map, but I don't know if it will be or not. In any case, it's super sweet. I can't wait to blast through there this winter. Quote

They announced all day long on Saturday "10 days". OBVIOUSLY weather permitting.
