GNU_rider Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 Well in reply about the jump line last year there was no dirt, as for simons part, at mtn. lab they had a couple of prefab wedge style jumps that they covered with snow so it would have a little more transition; I also know that in the step child video those "bmx jumps" are all snow and I think they should try to make a set of those at bear it would be so awesome to ride a fluid flowing line of like 3 to 6 jumps. Â One last thing, as long as we can ride some rails this weekend and the rest of the mountain within 10 days I'm fine with that I'm just sick fo driving the 1:45 or two hours to big boulder especially when my pass is for bear and when bear can make a very solid park with good lips. k2rider2690 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 the wood jumps are a good idea but not practicle for bear...at the mtn lab they don't have the traffic bear has so the snow stays perfect on the wood. Plus the pros have what ever tools they need and maintain then all the time. I mean if for some reason the snow was not even or a little higher than the wood ur gonna have a big problem. But bear did use dirt to help out he big jump line, they didnt carve the exact shape but they did make the run go down flat down so they don't need to build up as much snow for the landing, now they basicly need to make the jump. as for opening I think the following weekend. A_B Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 ANYWAY the weather is looking goooooooood after today Quote
snowboarddude Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 the low temp for tonight is 28... i remember bear blowing with a low of 28 before....so will bear blow??? Quote
rgrwilco Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 ANYWAY the weather is looking goooooooood after today  i wouldnt count anything close to 28 as good...temp inversions and innacuracys can make for higher actual temps. or if the humidity is high.  they wont blow tonight. hopefully im wrong. Rowsdower Posted November 27, 2007 Author Report Posted November 27, 2007 Right now Bear's opening is going to depend on their mentality towards opening. If they really want to push for an earlier opening I can see them having enough terrain ready sometime next week, possible thursday or friday (6th or 7th). If they want more terrain open and more features in the park then they'll end up waiting until sunday (9th) to capitalize on a couple extra days of snowmaking. Conditions look excellent, it just depends on whether Bear wants that weekday opening instead of waiting for bigger crowds on the weekend. Quote
lumilautailija Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 they need to focus on opening sooner Quote
mollyskeez Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 i guess it is worthwhile for them to wail till a weekend to open but i personally like the week day openings better becasuse one, i get to skip school and two its not as crowded. Quote
Rowsdower Posted November 27, 2007 Author Report Posted November 27, 2007 They have opened on weekdays before so ya never know. Quote
snowboarddude Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 i hope they open next wed. or thursday!! Quote
GNU_rider Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 wasn't last years opening on a thursday, because I remember calling out sick from work and my boss blatantly knowing I was going to ride but I could be wrong; also does anyone think they'd blow while they have all that construction stuff all over the slope? Quote
k2wwwkid Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 does anyone know how many nights of blowing they opened with last year ???? Quote
Rowsdower Posted November 28, 2007 Author Report Posted November 28, 2007 (edited) They better move it off the slopes. Do they still need dump trucks for something? Â They said they'd need 48 hours of blowing to open. Thats 48 hours altogether though, not just two nights. Edited November 28, 2007 by Rowsdower Quote
rgrwilco Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 if they dont start blowing tonight(thursday) then they are silly. Quote
snowboarddude Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 (edited) low of 25 tonight!! lets hope bear blows Edited November 29, 2007 by Mini Zep Quote

sectachrome Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 The pre opening hype and speculation by all the wannabe resort owners and weatherman is hilarious. Its open when its open. Quote
Bobert540 Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 I doubt it will get cold enough to blow tonight.... Quote
snowboarddude Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 do you ever look at the weather?? Quote
Rowsdower Posted November 29, 2007 Author Report Posted November 29, 2007 Depends on humidity. I see them blowing friday and saturday, and breaking for the freezing rain/snow/rain mess on sunday. Then starting again monday and continuing until whenever they decide to open. Quote
lumilautailija Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 i got an email saying they were definitely going to try and blow tonight Quote
