rgrwilco Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 each year my lil bros hockey team has a tournament, usually in lake placid, which means i get to ride whiteface for about a week. this year though, its looking like instead of whiteface, it will be in Michigan. this is bothersome, because it will be hard to convince riding buddies to come to michigan with me, and from what i see everything is extremely small out there. im pretty bummed about this. so prove me wrong? tell me i should be excited? or am i doomed for a week? i was thinking about driving out there as my family flew, and leaving a few days before they did and hit a few small ass resorts in ohio and other states on the way, and making a little midwest documentary. thats the only cool thing i can think about. papasteeze, you seem keen on the park scene across the land of milk and honey, and Midwest input? toast21602 Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 first problem... its not going to be a midwest documentary, considering it is not the midwest. second problem... its michigan. Quote

Papasteeze Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 papasteeze, you seem keen on the park scene across the land of milk and honey, and Midwest input? I wouldn't be too worried. That area produces well known talent year after year.. I have been mentioning newschoolers a lot lately but it is a great source of information. I know that the MidWest has bigger and better more organized park events than our area. Go here and introduce yourself and maybe you can get some leads on what is happening when and where. Michigan is large state, it will help to be more specific. http://newschoolers.com/web/forums/forumthreads/cat_id/39/ Quote
OutCold Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 I don't know it you're going to the upper part of michigan or not, but Mt. Bohemia looks fun. They have 900ft of vert, All diamond trails, they beat up a gaper in their advertisement on their website, all natural lake effect snow. I would like to go there some day. Then again you are probably looking for a park, which does not exist here. Mt. Bohemia Quote

kragan Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Both Ohio and Michigan are the mid-west. The only places that are decent to ski in Michigan are all in the UP, which is a crazy long drive but they get blasted with crazy lake effect snow up there. I have skied several places in both Michigan and Ohio. The biggest they get in Ohio (vert wise) is about the size of Big Boulder, maybe a lil smaller. The same goes for Michigan (southern Michigan, near Detroit) except up in the Northern Part (not the UP) there are some places that are about the size of Jack Frost. The 2 most popular are Boyne and Boyne Highlands. Quote
